The Tennessee Museum of Aviation occupies a new 50,000 sq. ft. facility located right beside the airport’s 5,500 ft. runway. This unique location makes bringing aviation history to life possible as airworthy vintage aircraft perform impromptu flybys for visitors. The hangar floor alone is 35,000 sq. ft. and the hangar is heated in winter.

Your visit the museum can be done any time of year, rain or shine. The exhibits hall is air-conditioned and during the winter, the huge aircraft hangar is comfortably heated.

This museum is said to be the only place in the country where two airworthy P-47 Thunderbolts are based. There are only 10 of these rare airplanes currently flying in the United States.

Browse the museum’s air-conditioned artifacts gallery that traces aviation history from before the Wright Brothers. See the Gen. Jimmy Doolittle Medal of Honor, thousands of historic artifacts and Tennessee’s Aviation Hall of Fame.

The FLYING SPIRIT GIFT GALLERY is packed with aviation books, art, gifts and souvenirs. This is probably the largest and most unusual selection of aviation memorabilia in the Southeast.

Airworthy Warbirds are the foundation of the aircraft collection at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation. Most of the aircraft on display are flyable and with the runway just outside the hangar door, visitors are frequently treated to impromptu fly-bys. Aviation history comes to life as venerable WWII airplane engines start-up and the throttle is advanced for take-off.

The museum is located 2-miles from downtown Sevierville, North on US Hwy. 411 toward Newport.
Turn right off 411 North on to Air Museum Way at the Evergreen Church.
